FinTech & Innovation

A regulatory sandbox, fast-track licensing, and open banking standards for the corridors between the Gulf, South Asia, and Africa.

The opportunity

Why Oman for FinTech.

Framework under development, in coordination with the Central Bank of Oman and the Financial Services Authority.

The Sultanate of Oman has a young, digitally-literate population, strong mobile penetration, and proximity to some of the world’s largest unbanked populations across the Indian Ocean. The government has committed to ambitious digital economy targets through Oman Vision 2040.

IFC Oman adds the regulatory infrastructure that turns that potential into commercial reality. The sandbox, the licences, the legal certainty, the open banking standards, and the dialogue with the Central Bank of Oman that gives FinTech operators a path into the domestic market.

A regulated, common law base for operators serving the Gulf to South Asia and Gulf to Africa corridors.
